The Future of Arms Control

Beitrag von Heinrich »

Als ehemaliges Mitglied der Deutsch Atlantischen Gesellschaft e.V freut es mich ganz besonders, auf diese Veranstaltung hinweisen zu dürfen:

With the INF Treaty terminated in 2019, the U.S. announcing to formally withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty in November 2020 and New START’s expiration date approaching in less than a year, we are embarking into an era of unprecedented challenges in regards to the future of arms control. The demise of bilateral and multilateral agreements that have constituted historical milestones in the evolution of global security matters increases the danger of destabilization and of a new arms race. Thus, the key challenges of arms control need to be addressed urgently.

During our first Atlantic Talk webinar, we cordially invite you to discuss the future of arms control with high-ranking experts. We are looking forward to a discussion with

John Erath
Senior Advisor, U.S. State Department, formally of the National Security Council

Ambassador Susanne Baumann
Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control
Director General for International Order, the United Nations and Arms Control

Dmitri Trenin
Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center

Moderated by
Werner Sonne
Journalist and Author
Office Manager of the ARD-Morgenmagazin (2004 – 2012)

Opening remarks by
Ambassador Dr. Klaus Scharioth
State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office (2002-2006)
Ambassador of Germany to the USA (2006 – 2011)

June 16, 2020 at 04:30 pm (CEST)
